Designing My Storyboard

Posted by: tamaraauer | June 4, 2008 |

While working on my storyboard I have been trying to plot out the sequence that I want to use but when I come to draw up this sequence using boxes and arrows I start getting stuck. For the cognitive learning theory, it is easy to progress from session 1 to session 2, but when I incorporate constructivist theory I start getting lost. Indicating learners choices is easy when I explain it, but when I start using two way arrows I get to the end of one option and am stuck at a dead end, unable to progress to the next strand/option. On my sketches I have very creative squiggle arrows going from the end of option 1, back to the option page and then onto another option, but when I finish with the three options I want to then go onto session 5 and it is the arrow that connects session 5 to the previous option strands that I am unsure of.

Another thing that I am finding hard is integrating simple technologies (blogs and videos) with more complex technologies like webinars. If I use asynchronous technologies in the first section and then go to a webinar, I will need to place time limits ie. 1 month deadlines for different sessions. Otherwise if option strands aren’t all similar lengths learners will not all move onto the next strand together so there won’t be an adequate number of learners ready to participate in a synchronous learning activity.
